Welcome to South End
Diverse neighborhood with lots of historic charm
Filled with Federal-style homes and well-kept brick rowhouses, Boston’s South End has plenty of historic charm and culture. Home to the Calderwood Pavilion, a mecca for art performance, as well as several ongoing community organizations, this unique neighborhood has three public libraries within its borders and focuses much attention on creative living. Several community centers support local youth and families with a range of programs and services.
Considered one of Boston’s culinary hubs, many successful restaurateurs have opened modern concept eateries surrounded by classic bistros and bars. The South End is often declared as Boston’s best food neighborhood.
Coppa,
B&G Oysters, and
Kava Neo-Taverna have opened up shop here within the past decade. Classics like Charlie’s Sandwich Shoppe,
Anchovies, and
Foley’s are positioned among some landmark gay bars like The Eagle and
Club Café.
Undergoing rapid gentrification over the past few decades, the South End is now considered one of the city’s most stylish neighborhoods. Extremely walkable and filled with ample parks and playgrounds that are perfect for families, this close-knit community is considered home to people from all walks of life.
